Materials and Care

We only work with high-quality, sustainable materials. Our pieces are created to last a long time. Depending on what material you go for, here are some tips to make sure your jewelry last for years.

18k Gold Vermeil

Our Gold Vermeil is genuine .925 sterling silver that has been expertly plated with a thick layer of 18k gold. We use a 1.5 microns thick plating.

Gold Vermeil is the perfect option for those with metal allergies due to the durable thickness of the gold combined with the base of sterling silver. It's more affordable than solid gold and a lot more durable than gold plated.

Care: Avoid wearing when washing hands, showering, applying lotion, sunscreen, using harsh cleaning supplies or working out. To wash your Gold Vermeil pieces, just wipe with a soft cloth.

18k Gold Plated on 925 Sterling Silver

Gold Plated is the best option for people who want many pieces of jewelry but need to stay in a budget. It gives the impression of luxury and it's very affordable. Gold plated jewelry is made by using electricity to deposit and bond a very thin layer of gold over sterling silver. Our pieces are plated with a 0.05 microns tick 18k gold layer.

Even though Gold plated pieces will last for a long time with good care, the layer of gold might wear off.

Care: Avoid wearing when washing hands, showering, applying lotion, sunscreen, using harsh cleaning supplies or working out. To wash your Gold plated pieces, just wipe with a soft cloth.

14k Gold Filled

Our Gold filled pieces are created by pressure bonding an actual layer of 14k gold to another metal. Although a gold filled piece of jewelry is not sold gold, it has the same desirable properties and look of solid gold.

It won’t tarnish and the gold layer will not rub off. Those with sensitive skin can wear gold filled without worries of an allergic reaction. The layer of gold in gold filled pieces is significantly thicker than regular gold plating and Gold Vermeil. Gold filled accessories can be worn even daily without fear of fading or tarnish for many cases as long as 30 years.

Gold Filled could be your best option if you're the type of person to forget taking out your jewelry in the shower.

Care: It's safe to get your Gold Filled jewelry wet. You can wear them to bed and in the shower. However, avoid pools or hot tubs, hair products, lotions, sunscreen, etc. If you know it has been exposed to one of them, rinse in water and dry with a soft cloth.

Sterling Silver

Treat your silver well, care for it properly and it will reward you with a long life and a lustrous look.

Make sure your silver is not exposed to air and light during storage. Store your silver in a cool, dry place, preferably in a tarnish-preventive bag or in the Terra Accessories pouch.

Clean your silver pieces with a mild soap and water solution and then patting dry with a soft cloth. For more stubborn dirt, use a cleaner designed for silver use.

Care: You can shower with your pieces. However, don’t wear sterling silver in chlorinated water or when working with household chemicals.
